Connect Shopify to Ordovee — the full sync setup

Step by step: connect your Shopify store to Ordovee so orders flow in and quantities push out automatically — no more adjusting stock by hand after a sale.

You sell on Shopify, and today every sale means opening Shopify to adjust a quantity by hand. This walkthrough connects your Shopify store to Ordovee so orders arrive on their own and your quantities push back automatically. Shopify organizes inventory around warehouse locations, so there’s one extra step — telling ODV which location to push to — but it’s still about ten minutes, start to finish.

New to how ODV sync works? Start with the marketplace sync overview — what syncs, what stays with your listing tools, and how matching works. Otherwise, let’s connect.

Connecting your Shopify store

Step 1: enter your store domain

From the Shopify section, click Add Connection and type your Shopify store handle (the your-store.myshopify.com part). Ordovee creates a connection record for your store.

Step 2: authorize ODV

Click Connect to Shopify. You’ll be taken to Shopify’s consent screen where you grant ODV access to your store data. One authorization covers everything — orders, products, inventory levels, and locations.

Step 3: sync your locations

Shopify ties inventory to specific warehouse locations. Before ODV can sync quantities, it needs to know where your stock lives. Click Sync Locations on the Shopify Dashboard. ODV pulls in every warehouse location configured in your Shopify admin.

Step 4: set your push location

From the dropdown, select the location where ODV should push inventory quantities. This is usually your primary warehouse — the place where your stock physically sits. ODV uses this as the target whenever it updates Shopify with new counts.

Step 5: sync products and orders

With your location set, run two more syncs:

  • Products Sync — pulls your Shopify product catalog into ODV at the variant level (titles, SKUs, barcodes, status)
  • Orders Sync — pulls in recent Shopify orders, then bridges them into ODV’s internal order system for picking and fulfillment

After the first run, both syncs track their bookmark and only pull what’s changed.

Step 6: you’re connected

Your Shopify connection page shows the same kind of status overview as eBay: connection health, push location selection, and sync controls. An onboarding checklist guides you through the remaining steps — creating ODV items from your Shopify catalog, seeding initial stock levels, and pushing your first quantity update.

How SKUs match on Shopify

Ordovee matches listings to your inventory by SKU, and on Shopify, SKUs are already part of your product data — ODV reads them directly during product sync.

The one rule: SKUs must match exactly, after trimming spaces and converting to uppercase. If a product’s SKU doesn’t match an item in ODV, it won’t push quantities to that product — and ODV will tell you which ones need attention, so nothing syncs to the wrong place.

What happens next

With Shopify connected, the daily grind changes:

  • Orders arrive on their own in Ordovee’s queue, ready for picking — no more watching the Shopify admin for new sales. (The order lifecycle follows one from arrival to shipment.)
  • Quantities push on their own. Add stock, fulfill an order, or adjust a count, and ODV updates Shopify at your push location. The window where you could oversell shrinks from hours to minutes.

Also on eBay? The eBay sync setup follows the same shape, and ODV runs both against one inventory.
